Speakers:S.L. van der Zanden brings over 25 years of commercial real estate experience helping institutional, corporate, and private clients overcome challenges and capitalize on over $1.5 billion in opportunities. In addition to marketing activities, he is project executive on the firm's most significant assignments, providing clients with a direct connection to the project team. As Managing Principal of Newcastle Limited, he personally sold over $135MM of his client's excess or under-utilized real estate assets for redevelopment by identifying the highest-and-best use for each, and tailoring a sealed-bid marketing package to secure the highest value. Prior to Newcastle Limited, Mr. van der Zanden directed the property management, leasing, financing and asset management functions for a 22-property, 1.6 million square-foot office and industrial portfolio. In addition, he successfully turned around troubled REO assets for a life company, resulting in an increase in occupancy from 53% to 96% in 18 months. James Conley joined RE|Solutions in November 2009 after spending 2.5 years practicing law in the Chicago area. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Mr. Conley moved to Chicago after graduating from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2006. Mr. Conley began his legal career at a boutique securities law firm named Vanasco, Genelly & Miller, where he focused primarily on securities litigation. Following his stint at VGM, Conley joined Funkhouser Vegosen Liebman & Dunn, a full-service business law firm representing primarily owner-managed entrepreneurial businesses in a variety of business transactions.
