Union Station is mainly used as a transportation hub for Chicagoland commuters. Many pass through the Grand Hall without stopping to consider that the massive room is one of the greatest indoor spaces in the United States. Originally designed by architect Daniel Burnham and completed in 1925 by the Graham, Anderson, Probst & White Firm, the Great Hall became famous when its southern staircase was used during the memorable baby carriage scene in the 1987 movie 'The Untouchables'. While Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro and Sean Connery were not "on set" the evening of December 5th, another memorable scene was created in Union Station's Grand Hall when REFF hosted their 2013 Holiday Party.
2013 was the first year that the REFF Holiday Party was held at Union Station. Every year since its inception, the REFF Holiday party is one of the most well sponsored and highly anticipated parties of the year. Many of Chicago's Real Estate and Financial movers and shakers came out to celebrate the season and show their support for REFF, the ‘Dress for Success’ charity and the DePaul University scholarships for women majoring in Real Estate.
Realogic was handsomely represented at this year's Holiday Party by CEO and Co-Founder Sal Caldarone, COO James Pettinger, REFF Member and Training Manager Ellen Hayes, as well as Michael Phelps, the brothers Jeff and Tom Kaveney and yours truly, Amanda Gorman. I would wager that most party goers, like those from Realogic, share fond memories of the warm smiles and engaging conversations that took place that evening. Some might even remember getting their photograph taken.
